Another exciting development is in the pipeline for a large nine-acre brownfield site in York.
The former gasworks site, located between Heworth Green and Layerthorpe, was partially cleared in 2016 as part of a canceled hotel development project.
The most recent proposal will see £200m of investment (Moda and Apache Capital Partners in partnership with North Star Investment) to transform the derelict site into 710 homes, with 450 available for rental through Moda, with 260 available for sale. These properties will include a range of specifications, including studios, three-bedroom homes and apartments with Minster views.
There is also potential for retail/leisure space and spaces for community use.
“We’re excited to see Moda Living invest in York, following their successful developments in Leeds and Manchester. The introduction of their Moda Living product to York will help continue the transformation of York into a hub for creative professionals. We expect this to increase properties values in York.” James Thorn, Founder, Tenancy Stream
The redevelopment plan was designed by DC Architecture and will be open for public consultation on the 6th of March 2019.
